I have rescued all 4 of my animals. 3 we rescued while they were still kittens and a puppy. The other was a year old. It has been a wonderful experience. <br />I will say that when shelters/rescues say the animal is slow to warm up, they are usually (but not always) better off with a people with a lot of patience and no children. Practically any and all breeds are available from rescues, and most people involved with rescue groups love animals and work to make the best possible matches to ensure a good arrangement.
