Privacy Policy

Effective as of May 25, 2018

As the owner of this website RachelTeodoro.com, Rachel Teodoro we understand that your privacy is of critical importance.  This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect from you via the Site and how we use and disclose such information. Honestly, I don't have time to do anything corrupt with your data. I honestly barely have time to keep my plants alive.
Our Use of Cookies

Do you know what a cookie is? Or what it even does? This website uses cookies because that's how the internet works. Cookies make the world go round and stuff. If you don't want my delicious cookies, feel free to block them on your browser, that's on you. If you really are curious about how cookies work, do a little google search. You'll be bored and sad you wasted any of your time.

I honestly don't even know how cookies work myself, I just know I have them and I have to warn you against them, so there you go.

Visitor Tracking

We use Google Analytics, primarily to stare at the real-time stats because it's kind of cool to see why people land on my website. We also use Google Analytics in an attempt to feel like we can figure out what you want to read on this website, but in reality, I half-ass most of what I do and any blog post that goes viral is out of pure luck.
Advertising Privacy Statement

This Site is affiliated with CMI Marketing, Inc., d/b/a CafeMedia (“CafeMedia”) for the purposes of placing advertising on the Site, and CafeMedia will collect and use certain data for advertising purposes. To learn more about CafeMedia’s data usage, click here: www.cafemedia.com/publisher-advertising-privacy-policy

To help understand your interests, AdThrive, Google and our other advertising partners will track your behavior on our website and on other websites across the Internet using cookies. There we go, those cookies again.

By using this Site, you consent to the use of such cookies and the sharing of data captured by such cookies with AdThrive, Google, and our other third-party partners. You can view, delete or add interest categories associated with your browser by
visiting: https://adssettings.google.com. You can also opt-out of the network cookie using those settings or using the Network Advertising Initiative's multi-cookie opt-out mechanism at http://optout.networkadvertising.org.  However, these opt-out mechanisms themselves use cookies, and if you clear the cookies from your browser your opt-out will not be maintained.

Seriously, those cookies are all over the place. It's like one big crazy internet cookie. You can't win.

For European Economic Area Residents
If you live in a country in the European Economic Area (EEA), then under the GDPR and applicable data protection laws you have the rights, among other things, to access your personal data, have us erase it, and/or restrict its further processing.  If you wish to access or delete your personal data (if any) maintained by us or AdThrive related to advertising on the Site, you can contact us at rachel@rachelteodoro.com (where I will have no idea what to do with that particular information) or contact AdThrive at info@adthrive.com (this is your better bet). If you wish to see a list of the advertising partners we work with or change which of those partners track your behavior using cookies, click the ad preferences link at the bottom of the site. (Available in the EU.)
For California Residents
California law gives residents the right to opt-out of the “sale” of their personal information to third parties, including for advertising purposes. Under California law, the sharing of your information with a service provider for advertising purposes could be considered a “sale.” To opt-out of the sharing of your information for advertising information, there is a link at the foot of this website. Click that. You also have the right to request from us the categories of personal information that we have shared and the categories of third parties to whom the information was provided. To make such a request, please contact us at info@adthrive.com. To be clear we do not share your name, contact information, or any other sensitive information with third parties and the categories of third parties that we share information with for advertising purposes are supply-side platforms, programmatic advertising exchanges, and demand-side platforms.
e-mail addresses
If you sign up for any pop-up or click on anything on this site, where you give out your e-mail address, I will store your name and email address and I might finally get around to sending out those weekly e-mails I have on my goal list to do every week. We do everything in our power to protect your data. I hate spammy stuff, and won't sell your information or share it with anyone. I probably don't know how. I'm lucky people let me run a website. If I do send you something, you always have the option to unsubscribe, but just so you know, every time you unsubscribe a tiny angel loses its wings. I use Flodesk for my email distribution and they do their own funny stuff with cookies {yep, those guys again}, so feel free to read up on their policy too. Or do ANYTHING else with your time. Literally anything else.
Sale of Business or Assets
In case I ever want an out, and am tired of creating free content, all of the site and its assets will be sold or merged in connection with that transaction. It's business yo.
Changes to Privacy Policy
I may decide to change the privacy policy whenever I darn well feel like it. I doubt I will, unless some new law or rule forces me to because this kind of crap kills a little bit of my soul. I'd rather be baking, gardening, crafting, getting a root canal...pretty much anything but writing this crap.
If you have any questions about this privacy policy, reach out rachel@rachelteodoro.com.
