Transformation Tuesday-an updated hamper goes from the 70's to glam with some spray paint

I am so excited about this new summer series called transformation Tuesday, where I take one of the previous weeks garage sale finds from Friday and transform it into something amazing.

This week, all it took was a little spray paint to take a really old 70's looking storage hamper into something really awesome.  Here's a glimpse at what it looked like before.

You won't believe how good the after looks!

Incredibly easy patriotic berry dessert

I don't know about you, but I'm not a big themed food kind of person. Don't get me wrong, I love it when other people embrace the theme or holiday or whatever, it's just not always the first thing I think of.

Last year, I threw this patriotic berry dessert platter together and it was a real hit.  It took less than five minutes to make and was easy to put together when we got to our party.  Today I'm going to show you how I made it.

Easy {microwaveable} chicken burrito bowl

I am always looking for healthy easy meal ideas for my family of five, but I rarely find one that is as much of a crowd pleaser as these chicken burrito bowls were.  These were a major hit for me because I could cook everything in the microwave and I didn't have to heat up my kitchen.

You see, I live in the greater Seattle area and while the summer is a gorgeous time to be around our city, it can also be pretty darn hot.  Less than 1% of the homes in the Pacific Northwest have air conditioning because we just don't need it.  Most of us learn to cook without heating our houses during the summer, because let's face it, when it's 85 degrees INSIDE your house, the last thing you want to do is turn on the oven!

Summer is a busy time for everyone.  I know I would rather be outside playing than inside cooking.  I can't wait to share with you my unbelievably easy, healthy and full of protein chicken burrito bowls that can be made totally in your microwave!  How darn convenient is that?!

Don't tell the kids, but you can sneak something educational into their TV time!

I don't pretend to think that my kids are going to be watching less television in the summer. However, I like to hope that they don't fill their minds with hours upon hours of mindless TV watching.

I already know that all that learning they filled in their minds with during the school year will slowly seep out, but if I can do anything about it, I'm hoping to steer them towards some educational TV this summer.

It's easy to do with Netflix.  Want to know what my kids are watching?  You might even learn something too!

Transformation Tuesday: Succulents in painted terra cotta pots and cigar boxes

Welcome to the first ever transformation Tuesday here at Holy Craft! I am so excited that you are here today!  If you randomly stumbled upon today's post, here is a little background.

I'm a huge garage saler {yep, it's a word}! I have been going to sales for as long as I remember and nearly every Friday and Saturday you will know where to find me. I just love finding a deal and I have the most fun on the hunt.

However, not everything I find is in tip top shape. Sometimes my finds need a little transformation to get to their fullest potential.  Which is where my new series, transformation Tuesday comes into play. In case you missed the return post of garage sale finds Friday, you can go here and check out my finds because today, I will be taking those finds up a notch and transforming them.  Ready?!

Easy DIY planked table top cover for your existing table

I am a big believer in using what you have.  Why replace something if you can fix it? This idea to "fix" our current kitchen table has been rattling around in my head for at least a year.

When we moved into this house nearly five years ago, we purchased a table at a local big box store. We had a lot of furniture to buy to fill our home that was twice the size of our previous home and I was working on a tight budget. Actually, let's be honest, I'm always working on a tight budget!

Long story short, the table, which to its credit gets used multiple times a day, wasn't holding up as well as we would have liked.  I would often craft on the table and that poor surface took the brunt of the abuse.  That abuse and normal wear and tear on a cheap table was making it quite the eye sore in our kitchen.

I am so excited to share with you this planked tabletop cover that my husband and I made to cover up our existing unbelievably embarrassing tabletop. The top goes on to create a beautiful surface for our daily meals and can come off to create a work surface that I don't mind messing up and crafting on.

Free printable June memory verse

My kids still have another week of school until summer break, but I know plenty of kids are home already and are probably already pushing the limits!

I picked this memory verse for our family this month as a good reminder to be kind to others, even those people in their family that they may not want to be kind to. Pretty sure it won't help the sibling fighting, but here's hoping!

How to make your Fitbit step count more accurate

In January, I jumped on the Fitbit bandwagon. I didn't think I would love it as much as I do, but I really do love the accountability of it. I have that little black bracelet around my wrist every single day counting my steps and checking my dashboard. {haven't jumped on the bandwagon yet? Do it! You can find yours here}

Recently, I started running more as I trained for my fifth half marathon {this coming Saturday}.  I love my Garmin forerunner and wear it to keep track of my pace and my miles. I was noticing though that the miles I was running, weren't matching up with the miles my Fitbit said I was logging. Sometimes it was off by up to three miles, which translates to a lot of steps!

I know I'm not the only one who has had this problem, so I thought I would help you all out since I think I found the solution! This tutorial will help you calibrate your stride length and change it in your Fitbit dashboard.  Have a different fitness tracker? This tutorial will still help you get that step count more accurate.

Every weekend from May-September {I like to refer to it as garage sale season}, you can find me shopping the sales.
