You don't need alcohol to have a good time! Sometimes just creating the perfect drink, is all you need!
This holiday cranberry Moscow Mule contains all the best flavors of the holiday and would make the perfect addition to your holiday entertaining, or even just for a low key night at home in front of the Christmas tree. So feel free to add in the vodka, or leave it out entirely. Either way, it's a great drink!

What is a Moscow Mule?

A Moscow Mule is a traditional cocktail best served in a copper mug. A Moscow Mule is made with vodka, ginger beer and lime juice and is part of a family of cocktails called a buck. A buck is a cocktail made with ginger ale or ginger beer, citrus juice and any number of base liquors. A Moscow Mule is also called a vodka buck.

How to Make a Moscow Mule

There are plenty of cocktails that you shake, but since this one has carbonation, there is no shaking involved, so put away that cocktail shaker!

The key to using citrus in a cocktail or mocktail is to always use freshly squeezed lemons or lime.

This is my favorite citrus juicer.

There are lots of different types of ginger beer. And no, despite the name, there is no alcohol in ginger beer! Right now my favorite is either Fever Tree or Reed's. Both are exceptional!

Do you Need a Copper Mug for a Moscow Mule?

No! But friends, I'm telling you, I think this drink tastes WAY better in one! This drink is perfect when it's ice cold, and a copper mug helps cool the drink more than any traditional glassware could.

These are my favorite copper mugs.

Moscow Mule Garnish

There are so many different flavor combinations with a Moscow Mule. For a holiday drink, I like to serve it with cranberries and a slice of lime.

Here are some other garnish options:
  • rosemary
  • mint leaves
  • fresh berries
