Cruising is a great way to sample new destinations. You unpack once and wake up somewhere new each morning getting a small taste of what different places have to offer. One of my favorite port stops recently was in San Juan, Puerto Rico. If your cruise is docking in San Juan you are in for a treat! Here's how I would suggest spending a day in port.

Not going to lie, a cruise to Alaska wasn't really that high on my list of things I wanted to do in terms of travel experiences. Mostly because I'm always cold and I didn't want to trade my summer months, the only time I know it will be warm in my home area, for unpredictable gloomy weather, something we generally get nine months out of the year! But I was pleasantly surprised and definitely converted after taking a cruise to Alaska from my home port in Seattle. Alaska has some of the most awe-inspiring landscapes, majestic glaciers, and untouched beauty, not to mention abundant wildlife. I can see why a cruise to Alaska is usually high on people's bucket list! That being said, most people have very high expectations for these types of trips, and they want them to be perfect, so I can see why choosing the best time to embark on an Alaskan cruise can be a bit daunting. We are going to dig into a few different factors and look at some pros and cons so you can make an informed decision that will be best for you and your family! Are you ready?

Great Stirrup Cay is Norwegian Cruise Line's private island in the Bahamas. I've cruised a few times before, but this was my first time experiencing a cruise line's private island port. I am not going to lie, I didn't have high expectations for our visit. One of the things I like about cruising is that you can have a multitude of experiences from different cruise ports, especially cultural experiences. A cruise ship island is devoid of those cultural experiences. If you strip that all away, you just have a beach. And I do like the beach. But do I like a beach where 4500 people trade a boat for the sand for the day? I wasn't so sure! In the end, Great Stirrup Cay actually surprised me the most. But there were some things we did that set us up to enjoy the island even more and I'm sharing all my secrets with you so that you can enjoy them too. And it won't cost you any more money!
