I happened to be in the craft store the other day and started thinking about getting more letters for my board when I came up with a different idea. Making Fabric Paper Clips for your Journaling Bible

I've been using my journaling Bible for a little more than a year now and I am getting more and more comfortable using it. I'm finding out what supplies I like best, what methods are my favorite and how I can make this creative time my own and grow in my walk. I have found that as I illustrate a page, the verse I'm working on gets ingrained in my brain because I am spending a different kind of time on it. I'm focused on it, reflecting on it and connecting the cognitive side of my brain with the visual/tactile side of my brain. And it's fun! One of the ways I like to look back on the pages I have been studying, is by putting fabric paper clips on the page. But not just any paper clip, a paper clip with a fancy ribbon helps me see where I have been studying and it helps me flip to a verse quickly. 

Plus, it adds another layer of texture to my Bible. If you remember, I already used washi tape on the first page of every chapter and I have loved how that has made it easier for me to flip and find things quickly when I'm studying or listening to a sermon. I just love how the different colored paper clip ribbons are adding so much color to my Bible as well. I'm going to show you how you can make these fabric paper clips to use in your journaling Bible or notebook.

Illustrated Advent: Bible Journaling Through the Season

Earlier this year, I was introduced to Bible journaling. I purchased a Bible journal for my daughter for Christmas and after seeing her Bible, it made me want to purchase one of my own. I've been pairing my Bible study with time spent illustrating my faith and I have really been enjoying it. My new Bible is beautiful and I have had many comments and compliments on it when people see it. The comments usually turn into a discussion about Bible journaling. Many people haven't heard about it and are interested in seeing what illustrating their faith would look like to them. I recently had the opportunity to share a glimpse into Bible journaling with a small women's group from my church. Since I knew they wouldn't have their own Bible with blank pages to journal in, I created an Illustrated Advent book and I want to offer the same book up to you, my readers as well. 
Illustrated Advent is a Bible journal that can be used through the Christmas season. It's a daily devotional that can be used throughout December as a way to reflect on the word and prepare your heart for the season.

Bible Journaling with a Devotional

Earlier this year, I got my first journaling Bible and I love it! I'm a natural doodler and I am a bit of a creative personality, so exploring my faith while being able to nurture my creative side has been a lot of fun for me.  I have been working through a few short devotionals this summer and wanted to show you how those devotionals have flowed into my Bible journaling as well.

Last month, I told you all in my Must Have Items for Spring post about a Bible journal that I had bought my 14 year old daughter. I pre-ordered it but it wasn't released until a few weeks ago. You know when you give a gift and then you sort of wish you had kept it for yourself instead? Yeah, this was that.

Let me start by explaining what Bible journaling is just in case you aren't quite sure. Bible journaling is basically doodling or writing about what you are learning while you are in the Word. It could be as simple as hand letting a small passage or drawing out a depiction of a verse.  Whatever it is, it's a great way for creatives to express themselves while digging into the Bible.

I must say that when I decided to get started, my new journaling Bible sat staring at me with blank pages and I was a bit intimidated. I didn't know where to start.
