How to Celebrate Chinese New Year

This post was sponsored by Ling Ling, all opinions expressed in my post are my own.

I am a typical American thrown into the melting pot of traditions and culture. Growing up it didn't seem like we had any real cultural traditions we followed as a family, though there are a few now as an adult that I can pinpoint. I just thought we ate saurkraut and sausage on New Year's because it was the only night my dad would tolerate it. I didn't realize that it stemmed from our muddled washed down German roots. When I married into an Italian family that could be easily traced back without too many great great parents getting in the way, it was easier to tie myself to those cultural traditions. Plus I really liked spaghetti and meatballs at every holiday meal {yes Erica, even Easter}

For the past few years, I've been volunteering with a group of international college students once a week. I'm learning a lot about their different cultures as I share our own American culture with them. Many of our students celebrate Chinese New Year and it's actually one of their largest celebrations regardless of where they are from. They are all giving me tips on how to celebrate, so this year, I thought I'd fully embrace it and try celebrating Chinese New Year with my American family.

My One Little Word of 2018

Does this happen to anyone else: You hear a word and then keep hearing that same word over and over again? I was talking to a guy friend about the most random thing and I used the word patina in our conversation. He said he heard that word for the first time the day before when he was watching Fixer Upper with his son {yep, the Fixer Upper love spans all generations!}. I've been thinking on my one little word of 2018 for a few weeks now. The same word keeps popping up and today as I was having my quiet time and I think I finally settled on it. My word is delegate.

One word of the year

Last year, I selected one little word for the year. It was the word intent. I surprised myself that I thought about that word often and was reminded of it several times throughout the year. I love the word intent and long to remain intentional in my actions this new year, but it's a new year, and I wanted to add a new word for me to focus on this year.

It was only fitting that the perfect word came to me as I was sitting in church this past week.

Best of Holy Craft 2015 a year in review

I can't believe how quickly this year came in and now it's nearly over! I've been doing this Holy Craft year in reviews since I started my blog back in 2010. It's hard to believe that I'm going on six years of blogging! That's a lot of projects a lot of random thoughts and a lot of garage sales!  In case you missed it, you can find the best of year in reviews here:
2014
2013
2012
2011
2010
This is always one of my favorite posts all year because it's fun to look back at the projects that I worked on this year. Won't you take a look back on 2015 with me and see some of those projects?

Holy Craft year in review

I can hardly believe that 2014 is over.
It was probably the best year of my life!
Mostly because I got to take an amazing trip to Africa,
a country that I have longed to go to for as long as I can remember,
and an experience I can hardly put out of my mind for even a second.
