A wise friend once told me failure to plan is planning to fail. I think of that saying often as I try to plan my day. When the kids were younger, it meant making sure that I planned around the hours in which meltdowns may occur. It would involve scheduling around naps and making sure I packed snacks if there was a minute chance that a child may dissolve into tears over hunger, thirst or general moodiness. Now that the kids are in school, my hours during the day look a bit different. I run all of my errands between work hours and appointments and do my best to plan ahead and grab easy snacks for me so that I don't get hungry and end up buying something I don't need or will regret later. I've got a list of easy snack ideas for when you are on-the-go. That way, you can plan ahead and not fail if life throws you a curve ball.

Easy Snack Ideas on-the-go

Grab and Go Snacks

It's so important to have snacks that fit your on-the-go lifestyle. Pre-packaged convenience is so easy. You want something that is portable but tastes great and has wholesome ingredients. I hate to un-do all the hard work that I put in at the gym by making a poor choice with a snack. One of my favorite grab and go snacks are these Special K Nourish Snack Bars. I love the Caramel Almond Sea Salt flavor. They have real visible ingredients and I love the crunch of the almonds.

Grab and go snacks like the Special K Nourish Snack Bars are perfect to stash in your glove box when you're out running errands or you can keep one in your purse or gym bag because you never know when hunger is going to strike. Sometimes I'm out running errands and time gets the best of me, so I want to make sure I'm prepared.

Protein-packed snacks

Snacks that are protein-packed help you stay full longer.  And since running around and being on-the-go can feel like a marathon, not a sprint, you want to make sure you are packing some high protein snacks like the Special K Protein Snack Bites. They have 9 grams of delicious protein and are loaded for that extra protein punch active busy people are looking for. These little bites pack quite the {protein} punch.

Pre-cut fruits and veggies

I like to cut up my fruits and veggies and keep them sliced and diced so that it's quick if I need to grab a healthy snack on the go. It doesn't take long to slip pre-cut veggies into a plastic snack bag so that you can make sure you have something healthy to munch on. If there is a pepper in the fridge that is whole, it's far less to be grabbed by someone looking to munch right.this.second. But if I have a few cut up items sitting front and center, those get grabbed first.
My kids are teenagers and I still bring along snacks with me when we go out. You think they could make it on a few hour outing, but nope. They get hangry. So, just like when they were toddlers, I pack up some snacks. Usually it's under the guise of mom is getting snacks for herself because we all know that if I were to ask them if they would want to pack snacks for themselves for our time out, they would say no.  I know all of the things and I have these kids figured out. By hole 13 on our little putt putt golf outing they were ready for a snack and mom delivered.
Make sure that you have a big enough bag or backpack to pack your snacks in. You want to throw-and-go what you need and be ready in a moments notice because you never know what life will send your way. And there you have it, easy snack ideas for when you are on-the-go. What are some of your go to snack ideas?
