From Pin to Reality

A few weeks ago I gave myself the challenge to start taking my pins off of Pinterest and start making them a reality. I came to report back to let you know how I did.

From Pin to reality

Please oh please tell me that I am not the only one who pins things on Pinterest only to have them get lost on your board, never to do anything with them again.  The genius that is Pinterest thankfully came up with the "oops" button so that stopped me from pinning the same thing over and over again, though I still have to go back to my old boards before that was available and clean up a bit.  Oops.

I'm on jury duty and these are the things that are making me laugh

This week I am fulfilling my civic duty and am serving on jury duty.
At first I was really excited about being called for jury duty,
but once reality hit, I realized why people detest being called.
Because I am sitting in jury room 123 all day,
I thought I would share with you a few things that were making me laugh.

Seems fair.

While on our honeymoon, my husband threw a rock at and hit a crocodile in a swamp.
I'm thinking he would have thought twice had he seen this sign.

yep, about right.

Hopefully you saw something that brought a smile to your face.

Pinterest review

It's no secret that I love pinterest.
Most of my traffic comes from pinterest and I love
to waste time find inspiration from other crafty people on pinterest.
Sometimes it's fun to go back and see what things I have pinned that I have actually followed up and either made or were inspired enough by to make something of my own.  Let's visit that today, shall we?
**feel free to pin any of my own images, but if it isn't from my blog, please repin it from the original source**
I was inspired by this post
to make my cereal box sheet music trees.
I was inspired by this icebreaker jar,
source
to make something similar for our monthly PTA meetings.
I was inspired by this mason jar
DIY Mason Jar Soap Dispenser
to make my own mason jar soap dispensers.
was inspired by this Christmas Reindeer Typography art
Christmas Reindeer Typography Word Art Sign in Vintage Style
to make my own reindeer subway art from an old canvas
I was inspired by this box of sunshine
to send my own box of sunshine to a friend
I was inspired by these pillows
to make a pillow of my own
Pinterest not only inspires me, it also makes me laugh.

Random Stuff Lately

I am starting to fall behind and sometimes I feel like I don't have anything to show for it.
Mostly because I have been trying to build stock for the one craft bazaar a year that I do.
You can see what I brought with me to the craft bazaar here.

But alas, all it takes is a stroll through my current pictures to see that why yes, I have been doing a few things here and there.

I made this big sister shirt for one of my Sunday School students who was having a baby brother.

These 12 months of onesies went to the baby brother.
I am currently selling a limited amount of the onesie kits (just iron them on-no onesies included) for $25.
Let me know if you are interested.

Inspired by pinterest, a friend received a box of sunshine to brighten her day.

I happened to comment on a college friends facebook post about Hello Kitty birthday invitations, and was quickly wrangled in to make custom invitations for not just one friend....

but two!
Hello Kitty is a popular gal now!
It was really fun getting to see how far I have come with my Silhouette skills.
I learned a thing of two.

In keeping with tradition, the second annual Teodoro Turkey Trot is happening tomorrow!
What's a race without custom t-shirts?!
I made over two dozen shirts this year for the event.

And last but not least, I have made several amazing pinterest recipes.

This cucumber tomato feta salad is amazing!
You can find the recipe on the local kitchen blog.
I added olives and left out the basil.
So yummy!

My kids favorite after school snack are these pumpkin muffins.
Two ingredients: a can of pumpkin and a box of yellow cake batter is all it takes.
You can find the recipe on Sweet Verbena.
So what have you been up to lately?

Nails, nails, nails!

I spend a lot of time on Pinterest.
I'm amazed at what I find on there, but until a few months ago, I had no idea what a big deal nails were.

Longest fingernails. Yuck.

I really don't like to paint my nails.
If I paint them, the paint always chips in a few days, and the time doesn't seem worth it.
However, I do almost always have my toenails painted.
Polish on your toes lasts so much longer and I'm always flip flop ready!

Because of Pinterest (and my 10 year old daughter), I have been inspired to save a few nail polish how to's.
There are some really cool designs I wanted to share with you, and they seem easy enough.

I love these Dandelion nails with the wispy fluff (technical term) flying from nail to nail.
Snapguide has a tutorial on how to make your very own Dandelion nails.
Seems easy enough since it can be very random.

How to Dandelion Nails | Snapguide

I pinned these newsprint nails months ago but haven't gotten around to trying them yet.
All you need is newspaper and alcohol.
What could go wrong?

Ombre is the new "it" thing, so you can't go wrong with this gradient nail design.
You just put your nail polish on a flat surface and dab the polish on the tips with an eye shadow applicator.
I think I'm going to try this because there isn't much polish to chip.
This is a manicure that would last for some time.

More ombre nails.
Ombre nails how-to.
Who doesn't love glitter?
Lyndar the Merciless  describes how she does it and you can too.

I can't find the original source for this picture, but there are several genius ideas going on here.
Hello tape, where have you been all my life?

Nail polish ideas

We all know we can use stencils for painting the wall, but for your toes.
Why yes you can!
See how at Remade simple.

I actually did try these Mickey Toes from Random Thoughts of a Super Mom
before our Disney trip.
I used leftover vinyl from a project and a hole punch.
So easy!

Here's what seems like an easy alternative for a french manicure.
PopCosmo shares her method of using paper hole reinforcements.
Neon French Manicure

Again, not sure on the source for this (darn pinterest pinners!), I pinned this idea for next year.
Somebody will be searching the free box at garage sales looking for paper hole reinforcements this year!

valentines day nails. :)

So are you a nail gal?
If so, have you found any methods I should know about.
Pinterest is starting to make me come around!
