I think that it's so important that we learn from other people. I want to hear from other people's experiences and take their advice and use what I need in many situations of my life, but I think that it can be most helpful when we tackle any kind of improvement project, self improvement or otherwise. While these lessons learned from a custom kitchen remodel may not make you into a better person, they may save your sanity and offer you some good tips to getting the best results if you are tackling a large remodeling project.

Kitchen Remodel Makeover Reveal
But before that, come check out the beautiful transformation they have made in their home. I know that yesterday, I shared a little sneak peek into the remodel and shared some of the demo.
Let's take a glimpse again and see what the kitchen looked like before. Remember this home was built before electricity had even been invented! Kitchens were functional and utilitarian spaces not created to be entertaining hubs of the home the way they have evolved.

Kitchen Remodel in the Fixer Upper Historic Mansion
I am beyond excited to share with you this drool worthy kitchen remodel. If you are new here, we've been following along with Dea and Christian Rust, a young couple that is rehabbing a historic mansion in my old hometown. They just tackled the kitchen and it looks amazing. We are going to be taking a look at it all week, but today, I wanted to give you some of the before pictures so you understand what you are looking at when I show you the big reveal. Dea also has some great tips and advice if you are considering a kitchen remodel in the near future.
The home was built in 1860, when kitchens and modern conveniences we appreciate today weren't something that were part of a home. In the span of more than a hundred years, this home has seen many updates. Some making more sense than others. You can't have an after without a before, so here's a little shot at how far this kitchen has come and what a beautiful space this couple has created together. Why not come see more!
Tips for Hanging Wallpaper plus Other DIY tips
Today, we will be checking out some upholstered chairs and we will be taking in some wallpapering hanging tips from the pro. If this birch wallpaper doesn't tempt you a bit, I'm not quite sure what will! Come check out some of the details of this transformation!
DIY Woodland Kids Room Makeover Reveal
For nearly a year we have been following a young couple as they rehab their historic mansion in small town Indiana. We have been fortunate enough to get a glimpse inside as Dea and Christian do their best to restore this 1871 mansion that they call home. The most recent room makeover occurred in one of their upstairs bedrooms. It was transformed into a woodland kids room with some of the most stunning details. While this room had great bones to begin with {isn't the trim amazing?!}, details like board and batten and wallpaper were added to balance the traditional historic feel with a new modern twist.
Come take a look at the transformation!

Guest Room Makeover in a Historic Mansion
It's been a little while since we checked in on the progress of the young couple that is restoring a historic mansion in small town Indiana. To help refresh your memory, Christian and Dea Rust purchased this home that was built in 1871 and have since been doing their best to restore it to it's natural glory in the eighteen months they have lived here. I have loved seeing the transformation as it unfolds and I hope you have too! I'm a sucker for an old home, having grown up just a few blocks from this house in a historic home of our own, I would often find myself riding my bike past this house and staring mouth agape on more than one occasion in elementary school. There has been a lot of wallpaper striping and painting in the home but out of all of the rooms we have seen transformed so far {parlor, living room, foyer, master bedroom}, this update was mostly cosmetic, but what a change!
Just so you can get an idea of what the room look liked before, here it is in all it's blue and floral scalloped border glory! It's not hard to be able to look past the ugly color and the dated wallpaper to see the beautiful moldings, the tall doors and that marble fireplace. I'm a sucker for a transom window too!
Here's another side by side of the transformation. Not to worry. There is plenty more where that came from! Come see the update of this guest room. Wouldn't you love to be invited to stay for a bit?
