When is the Best Time to Visit Magnolia Market? Tips on Getting the Most out of Your Visit to Waco, TX

visiting Waco

I'm kind of a self-proclaimed Magnolia Market pro. I have been visiting since 2015 just months after the Silo doors opened to the public and the new Disneyland-like location was opened and I've visited handfuls of time since. It's funny, Waco, Texas didn't use to be on the map as a significant tourist destination and now it's flooded with visitors. I've gone from seeing the store mostly empty to seeing lines snake around buildings with people craning their necks just to get a glimpse of the grounds.
People stand in line for hours to get a box full of cupcakes and plan a whole trip around a visit to Magnolia Market, so how can you best use your time and when is the best time to visit the Silos? I've got some tips from current employees and from previous experience that will help you plan the right time to visit Magnolia Market.

Why I'm a Fixer Upper Fan Not Because of the HGTV Show but because of Chip and Joanna Gaines

If you search my blog for even a second, you will see tons of HGTV Fixer Upper posts. You might think I'm a super fan. I am, but I'm a fan accidentally. You see, before the Fixer Upper Mania started, my oldest son was looking for colleges. He knew he wanted to be away from the rain of the Pacific Northwest and with careful consideration, he narrowed down a few schools in California and Texas. We started our due diligence of college research and sought out alumni of the universities he was interested in and then planned a trip to Texas after the applications were sent in.
Baylor University in Waco, Texas was the very first college acceptance letter my boy got. Friends of friends started connecting me to Baylor alumni because I'd never stepped foot in the great Nation of Texas before and I wanted to make sure I wasn't sending my kid off to a bunch of people like I remember seeing from the Branch Dividian.

Everything You Need to Know About Shopping at the New Magnolia Warehouse

Everyone's favorite Fixer Upper's are at it again! They are not only expanding their family {Joanna Gaines is expecting baby number 5!}, they have reopened their "little shop on Bosque." The Fixer Upper couple opened their first shop in 2003, but after the birth of her first child and the feeling that she was missing out on raising her family, she felt called to close the store. Chip and Joanna reopened the shop in 2014 and the crowds grew and they moved into the new Magnolia Market Silos location in Downtown Waco. The Fixer Upper love has not died down and crowds are still flocking to Waco, Texas. The Magnolia Warehouse has opened up in the old shop to act as a discount stop for decor and home items offering slightly damaged and last chance items. I happened to be in Waco, Texas the first weekend the new Magnolia Warehouse shop was open and I've got everything you need to know before go!

These Fixer Upper Fans Got Married at The Silos in Waco

Unlike you crazy super fans, I became an accidental Fixer Upper fan. Several years ago, I had a few people tell me that I looked and dressed a little like Joanna Gaines on Fixer Upper. I don't have cable so I'd never seen the show. So...I did what any normal human would do and googled it. Image after beautiful image came up and I loved what I saw. About that same time, my oldest son started looking for colleges and found his home at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Yet another thread was woven into the tapestry that has created my fandom.

Personally, the more I get to know about Chip and Joanna Gaines through seven degrees of separation, the more I like them. I hear story after story from real life friends of theirs that tell me how genuine and humble they are. This is a story from a blog reader who reached out to me and it puts a little cherry on the top of what most of you probably already knew.

Chip and Joanna Gaines really are just as sweet and kind as we think that they are. Read on to hear about the very generous wedding surprise they gave these fans that got married at The Silos in Waco.

What to Buy at Magnolia Market (And One I Won't Buy Again)

If you are a fan of the HGTV hit show Fixer Upper, you probably have a visit to Magnolia Market on your bucket list. I've been a few times and people always ask me what it's really like. I already shared with you if I think Magnolia Market is worth a special visit {you might be surprised at my answer}, but if I could only use three words, I would say that visiting is an experience. Magnolia Market is more than just The Silo's, and a visit to Waco is more than just a stop at a shop, that said, if you are thinking of dropping into the Market, I have a few "must buy" items {and I'm sharing one I won't buy again} at Magnolia Market. If you've been before, I would love to hear what you would add as well. I'm always looking for items to add to my list when I am in town.

The Ultimate Fixer Upper Fan Guide

I accidentally became a Fixer Upper expert. I'm not going to lie, I rarely watch the show. We don't have cable and Netflix is a little slow updating the episodes {you can find season 1 and 2 to stream or if you are a super fan you can purchase the episodes here}. I actually learned about Fixer Upper when I had a few people tell me that I looked a little bit like Joanna Gaines {see for yourself a little side by side and you decide}. I ran into her mom at the Silo's once and she didn't once think I was her daughter, so I'm not sure she's my doppelganger. My Fixer Upper expertise kind of started when my oldest son started to consider college at Baylor University.  I started talking to any and all Baylor grads about their experience and as we talked, several of them geeked about about their love of Fixer Upper, this new hit HGTV show featuring two Baylor alumni that was blowing up. One of those grads introduced me to season 3 client Jaime Ferguson who was kind enough to give us the inside scoop on what it was really like to be a Fixer Upper client. None of us could have imagined but that interview blew up the internet. It was really the first glimpse of it's kind that allowed Fixer Upper fans the chance to imagine what it would be like if they were clients of the hit TV show.  Since then, I've met or talked to several more Fixer Upper clients, visited Waco three different times, shopped Magnolia Market and eaten my weight in cupcakes from the Silos Baking Co. I have read bios, watched videos, scoured the internet and found out all kinds of interesting information from getting never before seen photos of the flip that made them famous to creating lists of must see things to do and see if you find yourself in Waco. So now, I've put together this ultimate fan guide to Fixer Upper. Even if you have seen every episode, I bet you will find something you didn't know.

How To Plan the Perfect Trip to Waco, TX to Visit Magnolia Market

Nearly every trip I take to Waco, Texas I hear people tell me how lucky I am that I get to visit Magnolia Market. I agree. There is something special about that place that I'm not sure words can explain. Time and time again, little Waco gets knocked down with controversy but for the first time in years, Waco has something good happening there and it's all hovering around the rusty eye sore that we all have come to know and love as The Silos. Locals are excited that for once outsiders are seeing the town that they love get the good attention that it deserves. Waco, Texas is a sweet little college town steeped in history, tradition and because of the hit HGTV show Fixer Upper, the town is being seen in a whole new light. While I am still baffled that people want to make a special trip to go to a small town in Texas, after my last visit, Fixer Upper clients from season 3 opened my eyes to the draw that Fixer Upper has created and it seems as though this draw is something much bigger than the hit design show. While you may not find any material goods at Magnolia Market that you can't find from the comfort of your home on their store website, a trip to Waco will provide you with something more. Something you can't quite put your finger on. If you are being drawn to Waco, Texas I want to help you plan the perfect visit and am going to give you my best insider secrets so that you can do just that!
