When is the Best Time to Visit Magnolia Market? Tips on Getting the Most out of Your Visit to Waco, TX

visiting Waco

I'm kind of a self-proclaimed Magnolia Market pro. I have been visiting since 2015 just months after the Silo doors opened to the public and the new Disneyland-like location was opened and I've visited handfuls of time since. It's funny, Waco, Texas didn't use to be on the map as a significant tourist destination and now it's flooded with visitors. I've gone from seeing the store mostly empty to seeing lines snake around buildings with people craning their necks just to get a glimpse of the grounds.
People stand in line for hours to get a box full of cupcakes and plan a whole trip around a visit to Magnolia Market, so how can you best use your time and when is the best time to visit the Silos? I've got some tips from current employees and from previous experience that will help you plan the right time to visit Magnolia Market.

20 Instagram Worthy Walls of Waco, Texas: A Scavenger Hunt for Murals After Visiting Magnolia Market

You all know how much I love Waco, Texas but did you know I also love a good painted mural wall too? I'm kind of obsessed and I've been hunting them down in nearly every town I visit. I love how an otherwise blank wall that could be an eye sore can easily be turned into an artistic backdrop. Last time I was in Waco, I did my best to hunt down every mural wall I could. I know more and more are popping up all the time, {so much so, that I had to send out my son and his girlfriend to find a few!} but this list should keep you busy for a bit and as you check them off, you just might find a new hidden gem you didn't know existed.

Fixer Upper is Over. Now What?

Last Tuesday was the end of a good run. HGTV Fixer Upper fans are sad to see that the series is over. We understand, but it's still hard to see a good thing come to an end. Joanna Gaines has made the hard decision of walking away from a good thing before when she closed her "little shop on Bosque", the first Magnolia Market, after the birth of her first two children. The shop was near and dear to her heart and Joanna continued to sell architecture, greenery and unique pieces out of her home {the flip that made them famous!}, a few times a year. Closing the shop on Bosque Blvd. wasn't an ending, it was the beginning of something greater. If you've ever visited the Magnolia Silos in Waco, Texas you will know that.

So what does that mean about the ending of the hit show Fixer Upper? Is it really the end of us seeing Chip and Joanna Gaines on TV?

Everything You Need to Know About Shopping at the New Magnolia Warehouse

Everyone's favorite Fixer Upper's are at it again! They are not only expanding their family {Joanna Gaines is expecting baby number 5!}, they have reopened their "little shop on Bosque." The Fixer Upper couple opened their first shop in 2003, but after the birth of her first child and the feeling that she was missing out on raising her family, she felt called to close the store. Chip and Joanna reopened the shop in 2014 and the crowds grew and they moved into the new Magnolia Market Silos location in Downtown Waco. The Fixer Upper love has not died down and crowds are still flocking to Waco, Texas. The Magnolia Warehouse has opened up in the old shop to act as a discount stop for decor and home items offering slightly damaged and last chance items. I happened to be in Waco, Texas the first weekend the new Magnolia Warehouse shop was open and I've got everything you need to know before go!

Fixer Upper Spin-Off Behind the Design

Just yesterday, I was scrolling through Instagram and saw Joanna Gaines making a little announcement. OK, maybe it's not so little. HGTV has decided to give Joanna Gaines a little spin-off show of her own called Fixer Upper Behind the Design. Fixer Upper has easily become HGTV's biggest success with viewers who not only love the witty banter and loving way this couple relates to one another, but they are loyal fans who flock from miles away to visit a town on the map called Waco to a store named Magnolia Market that is dotted with a rusty hunk of metal silos. I have heard time and time again from people who say "I wish they would come and do my house!" There has even been a recent trend of people moving to Waco with the desire just to be a part of the show. What I find most interesting about this new spin-off show and what viewers may not know, is that when you agree to be on Fixer Upper, you agree to give up control of the design to the Design Team. Would you be willing to go all in with a budget for your dream home and give up complete control?

How To Plan the Perfect Trip to Waco, TX to Visit Magnolia Market

Nearly every trip I take to Waco, Texas I hear people tell me how lucky I am that I get to visit Magnolia Market. I agree. There is something special about that place that I'm not sure words can explain. Time and time again, little Waco gets knocked down with controversy but for the first time in years, Waco has something good happening there and it's all hovering around the rusty eye sore that we all have come to know and love as The Silos. Locals are excited that for once outsiders are seeing the town that they love get the good attention that it deserves. Waco, Texas is a sweet little college town steeped in history, tradition and because of the hit HGTV show Fixer Upper, the town is being seen in a whole new light. While I am still baffled that people want to make a special trip to go to a small town in Texas, after my last visit, Fixer Upper clients from season 3 opened my eyes to the draw that Fixer Upper has created and it seems as though this draw is something much bigger than the hit design show. While you may not find any material goods at Magnolia Market that you can't find from the comfort of your home on their store website, a trip to Waco will provide you with something more. Something you can't quite put your finger on. If you are being drawn to Waco, Texas I want to help you plan the perfect visit and am going to give you my best insider secrets so that you can do just that!

11 Things You Didn't Know About Fixer Upper and Waco,Texas

silos, magnolia market, chip and joanna gaines

For the third time this year, I made a trip to Waco, Texas. Every visit is a little bit different, but the focus always seems to take a turn toward all things Fixer Upper. Five years ago, at the very mention of Waco your thoughts would automatically go to the Branch Davidians. Now, you can't mention Waco without people asking about Chip and Joanna Gaines or their HGTV hit show Fixer Upper. While I rarely watch the show {and I haven't read their new book}, I am captivated by Joanna's style and the improvements that are happening in Waco, Texas. I stood in line at Magnolia Market and struck up conversations with two women on a girls-trip with their daughters from Colorado. I heard another woman in line mention she was visiting from Indiana. People are coming from all over the world, drawn in by the phenomenon Magnolia has created. Several months ago I had the opportunity to get an exclusive interview with Season 3 client Jaime Ferguson, and since then I have become a kind of Fixer Upper expert. Every time I visit Waco, I like to learn something new or different about the show that I didn't know before. If you are a fan of Fixer Upper or if you have enjoyed following the Gaines's success story, I bet I have some information you haven't heard before. In fact, it's a little challenge I created for myself to find something even the biggest Fixer Upper fan wouldn't necessarily know. So read on and tell me in the comments if I succeeded.

20 Places you Should Visit in Waco, Texas {thinking beyond Magnolia Market}

This post is in collaboration with Mazda and Driveshop. All opinions are 100% my own.

Hey friends! I just returned from Waco, Texas and if you are a fan of HGTV's Fixer Upper {you can find the first two seasons on Netflix}, the first question I always get is, did you visit The Silos. Of course I did! Chip and Joanna Gaines have put Waco, Texas on the map as a destination to visit.

I ate a cupcake at the new Magnolia bakery {Cup o' Jo in case you were wondering} and shopped the Magnolia Market.  I tried to answer the question that I often get, is it worth a trip to Waco, Texas just to visit Magnolia Market, and wanted to follow up with a list of stores and food stops that are just as worthy of a visit if you find yourself in Waco.
In fact, I wish I had had this list in my hands when I was visiting. I had a few hours to kill one afternoon and having already visited Magnolia Market {5 things to know before you visit}, I was looking for somewhere else to shop or something else to do in the Waco area. I hope you will find this list helpful if you are visiting Waco, Texas.
