t-shirt necklace

I was catching up on my tivo'd Martha Stewart Living shows when I saw this great t-shirt necklace craft . I'm a visual learner, so I love when I can see how to do it and knew I had to make one of these right away.

I bought this t-shirt at a garage sale the next day for 50 cents. One of the things on my wish list is a rotary cutter and a cutting mat (can you believe I don't have one?!) and since I don't have one, this shirt with stripes every inch, helped make the cutting part easier. I started by cutting off the hem. Don't discard this piece, you will use it to tie and hold all the pieces together.
Then continue cutting every 3/4-1" until you run out of t-shirt to cut.

Stretch each loop that you cut to make the jersey roll, but don't stretch it too much because then each piece won't line up completely and match in size.

Lay each loop down with the seams matching (notice them on each side) after you stretch them.

When you are finished it will look like this. Hold your hands on both seams and twist the loop until you make a figure eight. Now all your seams should be on one side. Take the hem piece you cut off earlier, cut that in one spot so you don't have a loop anymore just a long piece, and start wrapping it around the seams covering the seams and the loose ends as you wrap.

It will look like this! Cute right?!

I'm going to be linking up to these parties.
