Gifts That Give Back PLUS A Giveaway

There is nothing better than a gift that does double-duty. You can gift something to your loved one and know that there is a gift that will be given to someone in need as well. Pretty sure you can't go wrong! A little hope goes a long way and generosity multiplies so why not give a gift that gives this holiday season.

TOMS Sunglasses

Most of us are well aware of the TOMS shoes one-for-one program but did you know that it extends into TOMS other products as well? I've got really bad eyesight, so I'm well aware of how lucky I am to live in a place where I can easily get corrective lenses. Not everyone is that lucky. TOMS Eyewear purchases provide a person in need with a full eye exam by a trained medical professional and treatment that they may need from prescription eyeglasses to sight-saving surgeries.

One World Play Project

I recently learned about One World Play Project and I love their mission. They believe that there is great power in play that allows it to empower and connect us. Through play, we can become stronger individuals, build better communities and create a more positive future.

When I traveled to Uganda I brought a few soccer balls along with me. We left some at the schools and homes we visited. I even gave a soccer ball to my sponsored child Moses. It was amazing because Moses didn't look at that soccer ball like it was his, he looked at it like it was something for the community. And what an empowering gift it was for him to have the ability to share something like that with the friends and family around him!

While I had to make sure I carried along and gave an air pump with every soccer ball that went out, The One World Futbol is unique in that it's an unpoppable soccer ball that never needs a pump and never goes flat. There is nothing worse than giving a gift that is unusable when it's flat or broken! This changes everything!

The One World Futbol comes in adult and youth sizes and it's designed for street games, especially those in third-world countries. When you purchase a ball for yourself, One World Play Project will donate a second ball to disadvantaged kids. This means that you share the fun of soccer with communities all around the world.

My readers can get 10% off a purchase using code rachelteodoro at check out. You can give a One World Futbol for $25, or buy one for yourself and give one for $39.50.

World Vision

You all know how much I love and support the work that World Vision does. I have seen first-hand this organization working in developing countries and know the impact of their work, so why not help where it's most needed and receive a handcrafted gift you can keep for yourself or give to a friend.
I love this Hope Bracelet from everyone's favorite TV mom Patricia Heaton. I've got a few other favorites too! Like this beautiful charm necklace made by Delhi artisans made in a fair trade producer group and a beautiful infinity scarf made by weavers in Tamil Nadu, South India.
I know some eyes were opened yesterday when I compared two catalogs. Lives can be changed with your gift.

Noonday Collection

When you make a purchase through Noonday you are supporting global artisans. They create opportunities for women to make an impact in their communities as they develop businesses that then support themselves and their families. These artisans create dignified jobs with reliable and sustainable incomes empowering them to provide for their families and have a hope for their future.

It's hard for me to narrow it down to a few items that I love from Noonday because really, I love just about everything, but here are a few of my favorites.

Sundara

We all know how important it can be to empower women, but it's even more important to do that in countries where women are enslaved. Sundara seeks to advocate and empower women who have escaped from, or are at risk of, human trafficking. Women enter into a sewing skills program but learn so much more as they are able to live free from slavery and are able to be self-sustaining. The catalog is extensive and the products are beautiful. I especially love this robe and short set.

Ubuntu Made

Ubuntu Made is another organization empowering women with job-skills, but this one pays above-market wages and provides health insurance to their employees and families, a rare thing in Kenya. All of the Ubuntu products are made by moms of children in the special needs school supported by the sale of the bags and handmade beaded jewelry you can find in the on-line catalog. My favorite is this leather/fabric tote bag

I know these aren't the only organizations doing good. If you have one that you support, I would love to hear about it. Drop me a line in the comments with a link. It's always a good gift to give when it gives back!

Want to know something fun? World Vision is giving away a gift basket valued at over $500 for one of my readers. It's even got the Hope bracelet I told you about! I telling you, I love those guys! All you have to do is enter the giveaway below. Only US residents only {sorry friends}

Worth reading blog post. You are right, the give aways you have mentioned are all great. Especially the World vision organization, their gifts are very impressive , the hope bracelet and the charm necklace both seem very attractive.

Wow what a great gift for Moses and his community. I'm glad the ball never goes flat and that its used to help kids in those third world countries have a bit of fun.

I agree the best companies are the ones that give back. I have never heard of Sundara but I love their cause of bringing women from slavery and keeping women from entering slavery by teaching them also giving them a trade to rely upon.

How nice it is to be able to purchase something nice and at the same time give back to a community in need. This is the first time I heard about the One World Play Project and it looks like a worthy project. Children will learn a sport where it will teach them teamwork and help build their confidence too!

It's so nice to be able to support companies that give back. I think this is something that we should consider when shopping for gifts this season!

What an original blog post! There are so many gift guides this year, but I've seen none that focus on giving back. This is so important this time of year.

What a great list! I love gifts that help out the world. I’m familiar with Toms and it was nice learning about other products I hadn’t heard about too.

What an awesome list - we love Toms & the shoes they donate, but didn't know about the eyeglasses. My husband works in a urban, high needs school & has seen the items that Toms has donated to not only kids around the world, but kids in need here locally too. World Vision is doing amazing things, too, our church has supported them for years & we now have a girl we sponsor who's my daughter's age.

P.S. Got sidetracked reading about your trip to Uganda - what a life-changing trip for you - loved hearing all about the work that World Vision is doing there

I love all these. It's great to support different causes with our day to day purchases. Me to We is another great movement. They sell bracelets and the funds go to different causes.
