5 Tips for Planning the Perfect Family Movie Night

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of G. H. Cretors. All opinions are 100% my own.

Through the years family movie night has been one of our most favorite nights to share together. There is something about slowing down and being still all together. When the kids were little, we would watch animated movies and now that they are older we are able to share some of our favorites from when my husband and I were younger {when did there get to be so much kissing in some of these shows!}. It's fun to set aside some time to be together and enjoy each other as a family. It's a family activity we can all agree on and enjoy. I've got 5 tips for you {and a free family movie night printable tag for your popcorn!} so that you can plan the perfect family movie night.

Planning the Perfect Family Movie Night

1. Plan Ahead

There is nothing more fun than having something to look forward to, so plan ahead and schedule your family movie night. Your kids will love knowing that it's coming up and the anticipation of the evening together will be well worth the wait.

2. Get the Right Snacks

Popcorn is everyone's favorite movie night snack, for obvious reasons. Why not try out some new flavors from G.H. Cretors like Honey Butter Kettle Corn, Buffalo & Ranch Mix {my new favorite!} or Cheese Lovers Mix.  Your family will love trying something new and finding a new favorite.

As a mom, I love that G.H. Cretors uses real, simple, high-quality ingredients and it's made in small batches so you get the best in your bag every time. It's popcorn that has been passed down and perfected over the past 130 years handed down through five generations. I just love supporting families.

3. Prep Your Space

Get all of your snuggly blankets, make your popcorn cones and paper bags and put all your snacks in one place so that you have everything you need and no one has to get up during the movie. The less distractions the better. This even means putting your phones away and making sure movie night is an electronics free zone so you all are sharing the same experience.

I have a free printable for you, so that you can create the mood with these family movie night tags. I printed them on sticker paper and then cut them out. You can put them on bags or roll up some scrapbook paper and make popcorn cones. Simply download it here{for personal use only please!}

4. Change it Up

Why not hang a sheet in the backyard and rent a projector or pile in your bed.  You can even eat a picnic on the floor while enjoying a movie. Movie night doesn't have to be everyone on the couch. Make it fun, think outside the box and change it up a bit!

5. Pick a Flick

There is a rule in our house that you have to read the book before you can see the movie, so the kids know that after they finish a book, they have something they can look forward to. There is nothing better than seeing a book come to life and comparing the differences between the two.
We also like to select movies that might relate to our current family life. Pick a movie that is based in a location that your family will be visiting soon or shares an adventure you will be taking part in.
Put your feet up, relax and enjoy the show. You can't go wrong planning a fun family movie night with a side of G.H. Cretors popcorn! Don't forget to print the tags for your bags!

I love to read about you various ideas. Like you, we have used a projector and had our movie on the ceiling. We must have had every pillow and blanket spread out on the floor. Crazy. But, sometimes I can’t think anymore and need a great resource for something else creative. Then you’re email pops up. Thanks for all of the great ideas!
