Beat it!

Last night we went to the Brenton Brown concert. One of my dear friends from High School married a professional drummer who plays with the band. We had the opportunity to meet him and watch him play. He was amazing!
I decided that in honor of the event, I would whip a little shirt up for my 5 year old. I started by finding some free clip art of a basic drum kit. I then went to word and wrote out "beat it" in a font that I liked. Then I printed them both out.

I then copied the image on to freezer paper and got my exacto knife out and set to work.

I ended up with a pretty fun shirt for my little guy to wear to his first concert.

So fun! If you haven't heard of Brenton Brown before, go download some of his music.

No really, GO! Beat it!

great shirt! very clever! I am super impressed with you exacto knife skills! I would never have the patience which sadly means my kids can only have freezer stencils in large, easily cut shapes! haha!

I love it! What kind of paint did you use?

If you go to your local craft store, they have tulip paint. Remember the old school puffy paints we used to use? It looks the same. I actually scored a whole bag full at a garage sale a few months ago for $1. A regular bottle will cost you around $4.

This is so cute... but I don't understand how you did it, lol. How do you use the freezer paper?

That t-shirt is so cute, it makes me want a boy!! ;) It looks professionally done. :) If you could please add a link back to me or my party button within your post, that would be great. :) My blog is small so I rely on those link-backs to get the word out about my party. Thanks! :)

That is absolutely precious! I love it! You have a lot of patience to cut all that out with an exacto knife!

I have a quick question for ya!
When I have done FPPainting before it ALWAYS runs. I always have to freezer paper the back sid eof my fabric completely to keep it from bleeding... Did you encounter this?
Thanks for linking up to my Making it With Allie party!

Allie, I haven't had a problem with the paint bleeding. Are you using fabric paint? I always put something on the inside of the shirt so it doesn't bleed through to the backside. Make sure when you put the freezer paper on the shirt that you are ironing it down completely. I hold the iron in place for 30-45 seconds in one spot. I then try to peel it back. If it doesn't peel it's good to go, if it does, then it needs more time with the iron. Hope that helps.
