What type of apples are best for apple crisp?

The secret to a good apple crisp lies in using the best apples. You want to use a tart sweet apple in your apple crisp. Select an apple that stays firm and crisp like a Granny Smith apple or a Rome Beauty. You can combine it with the sweetness of a Honeycrisp apple for the win!

Avoid any apples that are soft and mushy.

What tools do I need?

You don't need a lot of fancy tools for making apple crisp. If you think you'll be cutting apples a lot, you might want to get an apple cutter, peeler, corer. I love this one or this one. I have never, in 22 years of having it, had to ever change the blade. It's the best.

How long will my apple crisp last?

This recipe won't last long, however, you can leave your apple crisp at room-temperature on your counter for 3-4 days. It's always best the first 1-2 days though.

Can you reheat apple crisp?

Yep. You can put the whole thing in a 350-degree oven for about 15 minutes. Or, for a single serving, you can heat it up in 30-second intervals in your microwave.

How do you know when apple crisp is done?

I always watch for the fruit to bubble and for the top to be a golden brown color.
