Every penny counts. These mugs do double duty. Not only do they make an adorable customized cup, they are also a great gift to give. You can tuck in some candy or a gift card and it makes the perfect gift at any price range. If you don't want to give a custom coffee cup, you could give some EOS lip balm. Or give them both! I'm showing you how you can take a grouped image in your Silhouette file and ungroup it to use shapes that you want. It makes every Silhouette file that much more versatile. But really, I'm showing you how you can cut vinyl to make a small sticker so you can customize just about anything, even these cheap reusable Starbucks cups.

Valentine's Day framed button art

Red is my absolute favorite color. I just love the energy that it brings and how it automatically livens things up a bit. Maybe that's why I gravitate towards all things hearts and Valentine's.  I created this Valentine's Day framed button art with a clearance frame, some striped scrapbook paper and some buttons I had collected in my button jar.

Washi and felt heart arrows

I have become obsessed with arrows. I don't know what it is, I just love them!  If you missed my DIY love shirt {with arrows} you can see it here.  As a follow up to that, I decided to take some dowels that I had in my craft supply box and used some supplies I had on hand to create these felt and washi heart arrows.

We barely got the Christmas decorations down before I started thinking about decorating for the next holiday.  I found a few supplies that I had on hand and made these Valentine's pipe cleaner trees.

Vintage love notes with glassine stamp envelopes

On Wednesday I shared with you my vintage division flash card "love can't be divided" banner with supplies that I have hoarded for at least a year.

Today's project is another craft supply hoard,

this time with these vintage glassine stamp envelopes.

As you can see the price was $1.50 for a HUGE stack {about 100 of various sizes}.

Never one to pay full price, I got them for $1.

They are so cool and so vintage, that I wanted just the right project for them.

I think I found it!

I made custom love note sets and I love how they turned out.

I started by creating a set of note cards that fit perfectly inside the envelopes.

I love my silhouette's print and cut feature.

It made designing and making these a piece of cake!

I stamped each envelope with a simple statement of love, 

because on Valentine's day, you can't have too much love!

Each set of five got wrapped up with bakers twine.

Ready for a personal message for your special loved ones.

These are probably one of my favorite projects this year! Who would you send a love note to?

Vintage division flash card Valentine's day banner

I have a confession to make.

I am a craft supply hoarder.

There, I said it.

I'm sure none of you can relate!

I will see something I like, at the right price and snatch it up only to hold on to it for months or years until I do something with it.

That was the case with these vintage division flash cards.

I finally crafted them into what my kids like to call "crazy math",

but I like to call it my "love can't be divided" banner.

These are the supplies I used.

All things I had on hand.

I think I bought the flash cards for around $2 for the box.

If you count the price of the string {$1.50 on sale} the total for this project was $3.50.

That's my kind of project!

I started off by taking a hole punch to make two holes in the flash card.

Then I strung the ribbon through and used double stick tape to hold the ribbon in place.

I used my silhouette machine to cut out hearts and then stuck them on with double stick tape.

And there you have it!

My crazy math...I mean, my love can't be divided Valentine's day banner.

I still have a ton of flash cards left. Any other ideas for what I should do with them?

Duck Tape Valentine's Day Candy pouch tutorial

My tween daughter could not have been more excited about the new Valentine's day duck tape designs.

Duck tape is always coming up with something awesome and their new designs did not disappoint!

My daughter immediately knew what she wanted to make with the Valentine's day designs, and she quickly set to work on these Valentine's day candy pouches!

My daughter was excited to help put together a tutorial of her Valentine’s Day craft, so that you can make these awesome valentine's day pouches too!

Start by folding about 8 inches of tape in half on itself to make a 4 inch long strip.

Do this three times and place them down side by side.

With your three pieces of tape side by side, put a horizontal strip of tape around the front.

One side works, however, you can put the tape on both sides to give it a cleaner look.

At this point, you will have 3 strips long, and 2 strips wide holding everything together.

Repeat these steps with your coordinating color tape

Once you have both of your sheets of duck tape brand tape made, place them on top of each other and fold them in half.

Cut out a heart in one of your tape pieces and then use it as a guide to cut out your second heart.

You will now have two duck tape hearts

Take a piece of duck tape and cut it in half.

Use half of the piece on one side of the heart, and the other half on the other.

Your tape will only cover the side edges.

This will be your adhesive to make your pouch.

Fold up the other half of duck tape piece and carefully stick your coordinating heart in place.

You can't just make one!

Fill your pouch with your favorite treat and share the love to all of your friends!

Candy Cane Valentine's day heart treats

It took me awhile, but I have finally gotten into the holiday spirit and started crafting for Valentine's day.

Valentine's day is not my favorite holiday.

I don't know why I don't like it.

I love Halloween because of the free candy,

 but to me Valentine's day seems like Halloween's sad second cousin.

Anyway, all that aside, I spent last night burning my fingertips

{only kidding}, 

but creating these candy cane Valentine's day hearts.

I love how they turned out, and they will be the "goodie" that my son hands out to his class.

They require a little forethought.

Which is why you may want to just take a second and pin this project so you can get back to it next year.

I saw these sour fruity mini candy canes at Target for 90% off.

Each box was .17 cents.

I bought three boxes, so the total for this project was less than 50 cents.

That's my kind of project!

I was inspired by The Idea Room's candy cane heart suckers back in 2011

and have tried these several different ways

  {with sticks attached to make suckers, filling the inside with chocolate, using large candy canes, using mini candy canes}.

These mini candy canes, were by far the easiest to work with.

They didn't get too hot, they were easy to stick them together, and they weren't big enough that they were breaking and overly fragile.

Start by heating your oven to 350 degrees.

While your oven is heating, unwrap your candy canes and place them together in a heart shape on a silpat {or wax paper} sheet.

Cook the candy canes for around 3 minutes or until the candy cane is pliable but not melting and distorting.

You may need more or less time depending on how your oven heats.

These candy cane hearts are fresh from the oven.

Once you take the hearts out, pinch the ends together.

Heated perfectly, the candy cane won't be too hot to the touch, but will easily mold.

Pick up the candy cane heart with a spatula and place them on a wax sheet to cool.

 It's inevitable that you will cook your candy cane hearts too long, and they will end up coming out like this.

That's o.k.

These candy canes have been heated for longer and will be hotter, so use a spatula to help mold the candy cane back into shape.

Once your candy canes are cooled, 

you can package them up for Valentine's like we are doing,

or put them on a tray for everyone to enjoy!

Vintage Valentines in a heart cookie cutter

Happy Valentine's Day my sweets!

Today, I want to share with you one of the final Valentine's day crafts that I made this year.

These fun vintage Valentine's!

I found some adorable vintage Valentine's from Tipnut that I resized and printed them off.

I bought these two vintage heart cookie cutters a few weeks ago at a super fun "junk" show called Second Saturdayz for $1 each.

I cut the Valentine's down to size and made sure they fit into the cookie cutter.

I thought they needed some faux moss {from the dollar store}, so I put glue inside the cookie cutter and smooshed the moss inside.

Then I put glue on the back of the Valentine's and smooshed those inside on top of the moss.

Everything is better with a little glitter, so I sprinkled some glitter on top of the Valentine's.

I have them in my den on my fireplace next to my favorite candy, red hots!

And my second favorite candy, conversation hearts {but only the white ones}.

I just love vintage Valentine's.   How are you celebrating tonight?
