Mother's Day Gifts to Buy Online NOW

Mother's Day is going to look a little bit different this year. It may actually be better for some of you because you won't have to share the day with anyone else. It may feel overlooked because in the middle of a global pandemic, those people around you who would normally be reminded to celebrate you, have their minds on something else. Trust me, I get it. One year I had a horrible Mother's Day and I think I found the KEY to having a successful Mother's Day. I'm not going to lie, this may feel like just another day, but I'm hoping, that even if you have to purchase your own present or give yourself a gift, that you can come into the day with some meaningful time where you feel celebrated and acknowledged as the amazing asset to your family that you are. Shipping seems slow overall, so here are some Mother's Day gifts you can buy online now in time for Mother's Day.

How You Can Support the Graduating Class of 2020 in a Meaningful Way

Most of the activities leading up to graduation have been canceled. Students who worked hard were looking forward to being able to celebrate their achievements in the final few months of school and those have been taken from them. As a mom of a senior this year, I know how difficult it's been dealing with the uncertainty of the coming months. Those months that were supposed to be filled with exciting college decisions, final sports seasons or concerts and recognition of a student's achievements as they put a bow on their compulsory education and look towards the future.
I shared my thoughts on why you sharing your senior picture wasn't really helping show solidarity for the class of 2020, and was met with a lot of questions on how best to support the students that are collectively missing one of the biggest achievements in their life to date. I'm hoping I can share some ways you can support the graduating class of 2020 in a meaningful way.

5 Reasons I love my Cricut Explore Air 2 for Holiday Crafting

When I got my first cutting machine for Christmas in 2010, I think the words I said were "man, this is really going to up my crafting game." And it has! I've found that the more I've used a cutting machine the more I realize how much the machine can help me in my everyday life. I used to think that cutting machines were only for crafters, but in the years that I've had one, I have seen countless needs it could have met. From teachers in the elementary school to junior high projects, for fundraising activities and everything in between. I can't even begin to tell you about every project I've created because there have been so many, but I can tell you 5 reasons why I love my cutting machine, and recently, why I'm enamored with my newest cutting machine, the Cricut Explore Air 2, especially for holiday crafting.

6 Gifts that Keep on Giving

I don't think of myself as being hard to buy for. I like a lot of things and I'm not that hard to please. Probably my favorite gifts are those that make me know that someone was thinking about me. That could mean that they saw me in my wacky socks and knew I was a fan of bold prints, or they found something they loved themselves and thought that I might like it too. I put together this collection of six gifts that keep on giving because I wanted to share a few of my absolute favorite gifts. Each of these is gifts I could think of at least one or more people in my life would love just as much as I do. Many of the gifts either give back to a great cause or are subscriptions that will keep on giving all year long. Come check out the six gifts that keep on giving. I think you will love them as much as I do.

Thinking Outside the Box: Gifts for Tweens and Teens That They Will Love!

This blog post is sponsored by LEGO. All opinions are my own.

I'm not sure I ever outgrew my love of toys. I had dolls on my Christmas list well into my teen years and then transitioned to working at a toy store through high school. In college, I got a bachelor's degree in child development and that really just allowed me to spend time playing with and observing kids until I had my own children. So if you're following me, I never quit playing with toys. Nope.
With the advance in technology, the time spent in childhood seems to be shrinking but thankfully, there are brands like LEGO that encourage kids to be kids. It's a brand that most of us grew up with and now we get the chance to share that with our children.

Finding fun, engaging and unique toys for tweens and teens can be a bit challenging. There are plenty of toys that cater to younger children, but the market just seems to drop off. So how can you think outside of the box and come up with toys and gifts that will engage those tweens and teens? I've got a few ideas for you!

DIY Handmade Gifts that Don't Suck

I love a good handmade gift, but it seems like sometimes I'm the only one. I hear people grumble as soon as you say something about gifting homemade gifts, but the amount of time and effort that goes into those gifts seem far better to me than just plucking up the first thing you see on an end cap at Target or clicking "buy this" on Amazon. I've gathered up some pretty great DIY handmade gifts from some of my favorite bloggers. Seriously, I don't think you could go wrong gifting any of these gifts. Some are more labor intensive, and others can be made in no time at all. Why not gather up some friends and have a Christmas craft day together? Or spend a weekend crafting before the holidays. I know just seeing these handmade gifts will have you inspired to create.

Salted Caramel Popcorn Gift with Free Printable Gift Tags

This post is written by me in partnership with G.H. Cretors. All opinions are 100% my own.

Every year I have to remind myself to get a jump start on the holiday season. Not this year! I had my Christmas cards ordered by October and I have most of my Christmas shopping done. I'd really like to do my best to not feel so rushed and busy and overwhelmed during the holidays, but instead enjoy that time with family and friends. Planning ahead is how I'm going to try to do that. That even means not waiting until the first neighbor rings my doorbell holding a gift.

In years past I sheepishly took the gift from their hands knowing I hadn't even thought about the kid upstairs, not to mention the guy next door. I'm doing you all a solid and giving you a leg up on this holiday season and offering up a fun and easy gift idea with a printable that will not only be a welcomed holiday gift, but will have your neighbors asking for seconds and looking forward to this becoming a new tradition.

Faux Enamel Mug with Vinyl

It's never to early too start about crafting holiday gifts. Just ask Hobby Lobby. They've had their Christmas crafting supplies up since July! I digress...It's a great time to start thinking about those handmade gifts you want to make for the loved ones on your list. Who doesn't need a good mug? I found this faux enamel mug at TJ Maxx for a few dollars and it was screaming for some vinyl. I will say, it's hard to find plain mugs now days. When you do, it's like finding a unicorn! OK, maybe not that rare, but for all the crafty folks who want to make and create their own design, when you find them, you better stock up!

So what do you do once you find that elusive blank mug? I've got all the details for how you can create your own design and what kind of vinyl you should be using to make that design last.  Are you ready?

10 Wedding Gifts Couples Really Use

My husband and I just celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary. I remember wandering the aisles of a few department stores, having never lived on my own, trying to think of household items we might need. We were in college, so we were having to take into consideration that the majority of our guests were poor college students. We were very practical for the most part {not registering for expensive china or entertaining pieces but sticking to things we thought we would use daily}, and while perusing the wedding registry of a few young 20 somethings recently, I was wondering what gifts would be practical gifts couples really use. You know, the kind of gifts that a couple might not have on their registry, but instead realize after they unwrapped it that this was the best gift they got. So I did what any adult does and I took to Facebook to ask my friends. Many of them have been married for decades and most remembered their favorite gifts from their wedding. I thought I would put the list together for you to use just in case you print off a registry for a wedding and start shaking your head thinking that those young whippersnappers have no clue! It may just give you a good starting point to reference if you are registering for wedding gifts for your upcoming wedding or give you ideas if you are looking for a much-appreciated gift for a young couple.

DIY Drink Local Beer Opener

I don't do a whole lot of crafting for the guys in my life, but trust me, even the men can get behind this Silhouette project. It's easy and can use up some of that scrap wood and scrap vinyl that you may have around the house. Even if you have to buy the beer opener, this project will still not cost you more than a few dollars!

Custom Valentine's Day Starbucks Cup PLUS How to Ungroup Shapes in Silhouette

ungrouping, silhouette cameo, vinyl, valentine's day, hearts, personalized
Valentine's Day is just around the corner. It's not normally a holiday that I'm over the top excited about celebrating. It's usually just a blip on the calendar in the middle of February for me but I do like to give those around me something special to show them how much I love them. I love the reusable Starbucks cups that you can purchase at any Starbucks store for only $2. You know if you bring in your own cup to use for coffee that you get ten cents off your coffee? Yep. Every penny counts. These mugs do double duty. Not only do they make an adorable customized cup, they are also a great gift to give. You can tuck in some candy or a gift card and it makes the perfect gift at any price range. If you don't want to give a custom coffee cup, you could give some EOS lip balm. Or give them both! I'm showing you how you can take a grouped image in your Silhouette file and ungroup it to use shapes that you want. It makes every Silhouette file that much more versatile. But really, I'm showing you how you can cut vinyl to make a small sticker so you can customize just about anything, even these cheap reusable Starbucks cups.
